Organisms are any living thing such as fungus, animals, plants, or micro-organism. It is a body made of organs, organelles, or other parts that will work together to carry on the various process of life. The organism I chose for this assignment is the jellyfish. The name ?Jellyfish? is a term that refers to the enormous variety of creatures that live in the sea. Some jellyfish live in fresh water. Jellyfish is an animal that belongs to phylum cnidarians, that is included in the class of scyphozoan. They are members of two groups that float freely or swim. The two groups are cnidarians and ctenophores. The type of jellyfish in the diagram is the scyphozoan medusa. They are the jellyfish that is commonly found washed up on seashores (Building Bodies of Jelly-Jellyfish, 2012). Jellyfish has two major body forms. The first body form is the polyp stage. This stage is characterized by the non-moving stalk that will catch food floating by. The second major body form is called the medusa stage. This form is characterized by the round body with hanging tentacles that will catch food (Hernandez, 2012). This form is more familiar to most people. The jellyfish feeds off of small fish and zooplankton that has been caught in their tentacles. They also have an incomplete digestive system, this means that both food intake and waste expulsion according to (Hernandez, 2012). The tentacles and oral arms are moved by its muscles. The jellyfish uses its oral arms and/or tentacles to move food to the mouth. Once the food is in the jellyfish?s stomach it is digested into broth within 6 hours. The liquid is transported around the animal by the circulatory system. Part of the waste are carried out through the mouth of the jellyfish. The canals of the jellyfish and stomach make up the gastroendodermal system. The jellyfish do not have an anus to release waste like humans and most animals according to (Building Bodies of Jelly-Jellyfish, 2012). In the jellyfish, it has cells that are grouped together into tissues which is also grouped into organs that all work together as an organ system. The cells, tissues, and organs along with the tentacles make up the jellyfish. The tentacles and other parts of the jellyfish are armed with the stinging cells that are called nematocysts. The nematocysts are well grouped into the stinging batteries. When each cell is triggered by a touch of the potential prey or predator that discharges a tiny thread where small harpoons will impale the victim and inject venom. A prey will be injected with dozens of harpoons. Harpoons are the tiny threads in a jellyfish that has poisonous venom. These harpoons are located in the tentacles according to (Building Bodies of Jelly-Jellyfish, 2012). Jellyfish has different types of nematocyst that are found in coelenterates. An individual must know which type of species in order to know what type of nematocyst it has. Different types of jellyfish species will determine how many tentacles it will have and if it has an oral arm. These arms are surrounded by the mouth of the jellyfish. According to (Hernandez, 2012) some jellyfish are not dangerous to humans but they are highly toxic. Some jellyfish does not have these arms. Jellyfish perform the functions of life through regulating the jellyfish?s internal environment. These parts of the jellyfish will allow the organs to still be evolving and become suited to its environment of today. In conclusion jellyfish are sea creatures that rely on their environment for all of life living. Jellyfish are unique sea creatures that have major body forms to help them catch food. The jellyfish uses their tentacles to protect themselves and to catch food. The many different types of organisms there are jellyfish was the most interesting. Genetic Engineering is what I’m referring to and it is an inspiring new way of curing many of the world’s worst ailments, abolishing world hunger, and improving the overall condition of humanity as a whole. Genetic Engineering has the capability to cure many of humanity’s defects, disorders, illnesses, and it can even cure cancer. According to an article in the NY Times, Patients with Alzheimer’s disease who have genetically modified tissue have shown† a reduction in the rate of cognitive decline and increased metabolic activity in their brain. † Having loved ones live with Alzheimer’s disease can be hell on earth for them. Imagine not remembering who your children are, or that you even have children. Genetic therapy uses genetic engineering to cure these things and greatly improve the life that those afflicted with Alzheimer’s can have. And for those with Cystic Fibrosis, an inherited disease that affects the lungs and digestive system, genetic therapy â€Å"offers the best hope for a life-saving treatment by tackling the root cause of CF, rather than only treating the symptoms. † Simply tackling the symptoms of CF is like coming across the Black Knight, from Monty Python’s Quest for the Holy Grail, and placing a Band-Aid on his â€Å"flesh wound,† meaning, it’s not very effective at all. : GE makes it possible to break through the breed barrier and mix information between totally different breeds. There is also a chance hat the insects could become resistance to the pesticides inserted into the crops. DNA does not always completely break down during digestion, so this means the bacteria in the GE foods could get into our intestines. Very little testing has been done to GM foods, and long term effects are unsure. Scientist did all these experiments so animals could eat less, grow faster, leave behind less damaging waste, and to be engineered so their organs could be transported into humans. GE offers the possibility to cure diseases and countless theories to improve daily life. Organic farming could feed the world. There is no need to waste millions of dollars on GE technology and industrial gag. Sooner or later GE is going to cause overpopulation, because people are getting new organs and new medicine to help them get better. Everything needs to die, but in a natural way. In Christians eyes modifying life can be seen as playing God , because God created life and people in his own image of how he thought they needed to be. To modify what God has created would be like saying God made a mistake. Some Christians believe that scientist that are trying to change and improve life are attempting to replace God. Most American farmers who have turned to genetically engineered crops me to be getting yields no better than farmers who grow traditional varieties. Scientist are not Just GE animals and plants, but also humans: designer baby. Doing further research on the highly debat ed subject is genetic engineering ethical or not is extremely important when making a claim. What genetic engineering really is and ethics, the risks and disadvantages of GE, and the biblical attendant on GE all need to be taken into consideration. Understanding what GE really is and how it works, and Ethics is following accepted rules of behavior : morally right and good. (Merriam Webster) There are always risks and disadvantages involved in everything you do, but does the risks and disadvantages outweigh the advantages involved in GE? Christians views are very different from non-Christians, because God created life and people in his own image of how he thought they needed to be. Scientist starting using GE in the hopes of improving everyday life, making animals more useful, helping crops last longer, better nutrition for humans, and drug and organ production. Scientists do not know what might trigger a gene, how it will react, or the long term effects. More testing and further research needs to be done on GE, or soon no animals will be organic, could possibly change natural genetic traits for offspring, kill innocent animals, disturb natural ecosystem, and cause long term health problems for anything consuming GM foods.

Career Goals and Learning Plan Paper Throughout the years, when it comes to personal and business tasks, it has been my experience that I have bad times, and good times during the day. In reference to my optimal learning time I find that during the early morning hours, I am able to read, write, and thoroughly soak up new information until late afternoon. It is very hard for me to begin a task during late afternoon and evening hours, however, once I begin, I wind up, and begin working until early morning. I get no rest this way. According to Carter, Bishop, and Lyman (2007) â€Å"Knowing how you learn helps you choose study techniques that capitalize on your strengths† (Chapter 2, p. 49). After reviewing my results from the Multiple Intelligence test and the Personality Spectrum I realize that I am a â€Å"Visual /Spatial, (a visual) learner†. I learn best when I highlight the most important points in a document, journal, or book using different colors (the colors identify the priority of a statement). I also find it useful when I group all the information that I have highlighted into one document. Viewing videos on a subject, for me, helps me retain more information. In the past videos have been valuable tools as regards to my leaning style. Malcolm Knowles (2005), a pioneer in the field of adult learning believed that; adults need to see more clearly how what they are being asked to learn will benefit them; for adults, learning is much more utilitarian than it is for children. He explained that adults are motivated to learn from being in situations in which they see a need to learn, adults also learn from their experiences, and are resentful of being told what to learn. Therefore, the most productive adult learning comes from the analysis of adult experience (p. 75). My accumulated life experiences have enabled me to become a better student. However, I am not in complete agreement that adults are resentful of being told what to learn. How can one obtain a degree, or maintain a job if they resent authority? I have my own theory about that. I believe that some people, not all, are intimidated by adults because of their life experience; therefore, they automatically assume that we are resentful. For me every day is a life, learning experience. I meet so many people, from all over the world on a daily basis and I embrace and enjoy the experience of being taught, told, and learning from their knowledge. Knowledge is a gift. We can only benefit if we listen. I learned the art of listening at a very young age and I am glad that I adhere to it. Acknowledging, and accepting authority is a sign of respect. During my undergraduate studies, a young, 27 year old Instructor, tutored me, and made it possible for me to pass a Statistics class. My experiences in life have taught me how to become a motivated, and respectful adult learner. Kearns and Gardiner (2007) explained that (as cited by Gillespie, Walsh, Winfield, Dua, and Stough, 2003, p. 53-72) â€Å"Today’s students will tell you that demands of lectures, study, assignments, exams, technology and work, there is barely any time for life. Recent studies indicate these time pressures seem to be getting more critical for already overworked university staff and students† (p. 235). Fitsimmons (2008). Stated that Good Planning ensures that you get to a desirable end with a project or other effort, whether that project is something specific to your library workplace, or your whole career† (p. 61). I began by making a To Do List that corresponds with my class syllables, and my work assignments. When studying, I begin with the most difficult subject or task. Fortunately, I am self employed; therefore, it is easy to set my client appointments around my scho ol schedule. In reference to how I organize my assignments. I create individuals on my computer folders for my discussions, my assigned readings, my research, and my assignments. I pick a time to complete my work and as each task is completed I mark it off on the syllables as done. It is much easier when I scan through the assigned readings, (highlighting the important points) first, and then I move on to completing my assigned work. I follow the guidelines of thinking like the writer when I read in order to get a complete understanding of what I am reading. I leave enough time for work, family, me time and social time. But even at those times I am asking questions while speaking to family and friends who are interested in what I am doing. Good planning is the only way to succeed with time management. Kearns and Gardiner (2007) identified four main time management behaviors: â€Å"having a clear purpose in your career† (being clear about your personal goals), â€Å"planning and prioritizing† (setting aside time, and creating a planning schedule that allows you to complete tasks), â€Å"avoiding interruptions and distractions† and â€Å"being organized which includes being tidy, quickly responding to mails, and having an efficient filing system† (p. 1). Staying optimistic, believing in the magic of my dreams (visualizing), I have learned to manage the stress associated with my decision to return to school to obtain a Master’s in the Science Psychology. There are many career paths that are available with this degree. With a Masters Degrees I may be able to apply for positions in group counseling practices, clinics, program for specific populations (drug abusers, battered wives, etc. ), and employee assistance programs. A masters degree gives you more occupational advantages than a bachelors degree, but less than a doctoral degree. My preferred career path is to work with homeless and abused and battered women. I have first hand, and second hand experience in dealing women in this situation. However, I have been out of the workforce for many years, and I realize that I may need to complete some extensive volunteer work, in order that I may demonstrate that I have an immense amount of experience in this field. With my cosmic interpersonal skills I would become an asset to any agency. There are also other careers that interest me, such as, Case Worker, Director of Volunteer Services, Drug/Substance Abuse Counseling (which requires a certificate in Casack Substance Counseling), Program Manager, and College Admissions Counseling. In Conclusion, being optimistic about knowing my learning style, staying organized, and giving myself time to work on my studies, keeps me healthier, less stressed and more successful in completing my personal goals.
